Since 1994, the Feray family has been preserving and enhancing the Château with enthusiasm and commitment, making it one of the most remarkable historic sites in the Loire Valley.
The wine estate is one of the oldest in the Touraine region and now also features among the most prestigious in the Loire Valley. The estate spans 130 hectares, over hillsides and valleys.
TASTING NOTES
In preparation for the Hong Kong Le GourMay France’s theme of Loire Valley, I went to look for a fruity, refreshing sparkling wine from Loire Valley. This coincides with my personal desire to look for the best representative of the five best regions for sparkling wines in France. Loire Valley makes the one of the best sparkling wines outside of Champagne using traditional method. I found this gem from Chateau Moncontour in Vouvray - it is one of the oldest Chateau in Loire valley. Cuvée Prédilection 2016 is 100% Chenin Blanc, a super sour grapes but due to global warming this trait does not show through but creates a tantalisingly delicious character. It is a thirst cruncher, a god-send in warm weather.
